Inclement Weather Practice Policy
In the case of inclement weather (THURSDAYS ONLY) that causes us to cancel, the notice would be posted on the main landing page on the Intrepid website and also published on social media. This decision would be made and published at least 1 hour prior to the start of practice but families are always welcome to email me (intrepiddirector@aol.com) earlier if travel times mean you need to know sooner. Because it is very difficult to secure additional field time in the event of a cancellation, we generally try to make a go of it unless we believe there will be dangerous weather situations and yes, we practice in the rain, just like we play in it.

As we see the fluctuations in heat and humidity it is important to stay hydrated ESPECIALLY during these tournaments, which seem to be held @ the equator....
The easiest way to stay hydrated is to take your weight and divide it in half, take that number and consume that in OUNCES OF WATER every single day (in addition to what you consume during workouts, practices, etc). So if you weigh 150lbs, you should drink 75 oz of water before you even get to practice. Your urine (ewww gross I know) - should be light yellow to clear. If yours is dark - drink up!!! You can also stay hydrated with fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, celery, melons, berries and oranges. If you don't like plain water - try adding mint leaves or berries for some sweetness.
Please quit drinking Monsters, Red Bulls and Starbucks for energy - you have more energy than what you know what to do with. Just put your cell phone away and go to bed. I encourage you to put your phone *GASP* in the other room - the glare of phones and tables actually simulate the light of 3:00pm...THAT'S BRIGHT! So you might be in bed at 10pm, but are you actually trying to relax with a book or soothing music? Or are you on your phone until 12:30?
Gatorade? Gatorade is great for those super hot days (think back to back games at 1:00pm) where you are working the entire game. Water is more than sufficient for practices when we are standing going over plays and game tactics. You are just consuming extra calories which in turn can make you feel more sluggish if you aren't putting the work in to burn them off. This is a HEALTH thing, not a vanity thing :)
Additionally, you need to eat something in the hour leading up to practice-peanut butter and an apple or 1/2 a PB & J for example. It doesn't need to be big and shouldn't be too elaborate but your body needs fuel to lax for two hours and you will not only play better, you will feel better and be less prone to need to take 5 for dizziness or being overheated.
