WHAT IS INTREPID?
The dictionary defines Intrepid as resolute, fearless, fortitude and endurance! Intrepid is also the Tri-State areas premier lacrosse club for girls.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Any rising middle school grade through rising-twelfth grade girl is welcome.
DO I HAVE TO BE A “SUPERSTAR” TO JOIN?
We think every girl, especially those who are passionate about playing lacrosse, is a “superstar!” However, our registrants are expected to have mastered the basic lacrosse skills. We want the girls to be the best lax-player they can be, but feel free to make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. Just as important is the fact that we want the players to have fun!
DO I HAVE TO TRY OUT?
For 2008, we will have Team Selections, which will be held in March. Registration is online on the Intrepid web site. Each team will consist of 18 field players and 2 goalies. In an effort to best serve the girls, the club has agreed that a 10:1 player to coach ratio is optimal.
WHAT SCHOOLS DO OTHER CLUB MEMBERS ATTEND?
Baldwin, Bethel Park, Ellis, Fox Chapel, Franklin Regional, Hampton, Morgantown, Mt. Lebanon, North Allegheny, North Hills, Oakland Catholic, Peters Township, Pine Richland, Quaker Valley, Seton LaSalle, Sewickley Academy, Shady Side Academy, Seneca Valley, Upper St. Clair and Winchester.
WHY SHOULD I PLAY WITH THE “ENEMY”?
Any girl who loves to play the game, but happens to attend another high school is not your enemy; she is a kindred spirit...your lax sister! It is of great value for girls who want to play beyond their high school season or in college to join a club team. Look at the benefits of membership: (1) You will travel to new places; and perhaps make college visits; (2) Think about all of the social activities and new friends you will meet; (3) You will pit your skills against the best players in the country; (4) The tri-state area has some of the best coaches and athletes in the world. We need to “showcase” our girls to the nationwide lacrosse community.
WHERE AND WHEN IS PRACTICE?
Practice will be held at the RMU Sports Complex on Neville Island, at Duquesne University’s Rooney Field, at Winchester Thurston Field and at Sewickley Academy fields.
DO I HAVE TO COME TO ALL THE TOURNAMENTS?
Members are expected to attend tournaments, and we encourage all players to participate, because no amount of practice will sharpen your skills better than the fire of competition! We also need parents to come support their daughter and her team.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You are obligated to bring a mouthguard, ASTM approved goggles and/or NOCSAE goalkeeper helmet, a legal stick and a filled water bottle to all practices. You may also want to bring medications, inhaler, prescription glasses or contact lenses if needed. We expect you to wear a clean practice or game uniform and suggest that each player brings turf shoes, cleats and extra pairs of socks. Running-style shoes and socks made of 100% cotton, wool or knee-high socks are not recommended. Last but not least, we want every girl to bring a positive attitude and a sense of humor to every Intrepid event!
DO I HAVE TO JOIN USLACROSSE?
Every player must join USLacrosse because their insurance supplements your family’s health care plan. USLacrosse is the governing body for the sport throughout America. Your membership gives women and girls a voice at the national level and supports all of their educational and outreach programs.
HOW DO I GET TO PRACTICE AND TOURNAMENTS?
We encourage parents to come to all the tournaments to share the experience with their daughters and the team. Transportation to and from practice and the tournaments is the individual member’s responsibility. If you need a ride, look at the membership directory and see if you can arrange a ride with another player. As a last resort, the Team Parent Representative may be a resource for you.
WHERE DO I STAY AT THE TOURNAMENTS?
The Club’s Transportation and Housing Coordinator will reserve a block of rooms at the “host hotel.” However, it is the parent’s responsibility to contact the hotel and pay for the room. Every effort will be made to book hotels that are convenient to the tournament site and preferably those that have a swimming pool and provide complimentary breakfast.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THE TOURNAMENTS?
The coaches will be your primary contacts at all tournaments. Copies of the tournament itinerary, including the contacts cell phone numbers, will be emailed to you in advance. Unless otherwise noted, parents will provide transportation to and from the tournament site.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?
The Membership Fee includes everything except room, board and transportation.

DO YOU OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS?
The Board is vigorously trying to secure grants for worthy student athletes. Any player wishing to be considered for scholarship aid will need to submit a completed Scholarship Request Form for the Board to review. If you have any foundation or trust contacts to help us obtain more scholarship money, please phone the Club Manager.
DO YOU OFFER PRICE CONSIDERATION FOR SISTERS?
The Board is committed to trying to accommodate every girl. At this time, we do not offer price considerations to families with more than one lax-player.
